Everest Base Camp Trek

Everest Base Camp trek begins with an "eye opening" flight to Lukla at 2800 meters and & so begins the  journey through the  Sherpa village of Namche Bazaar to Gorakshep culminating in the "ascent" of Kalapatter (5500m) from where typical views of Everest and its surrounding peaks are available.

Mt. Everest was first climbed in 1953 by Hillary and Tenzing. And their base camp was at Gorakshep which trail’s along the way in our adventure with a visit. Perhaps, this is where it all began; our trek to the foothills of the highest mountain in the world gives you upfront opportunities to enjoy the unbelievable beauty of Nepal and walk to a very high altitude on little grassy snow-free paths, providing amazing views of Everest and the surrounding Himalaya Giants that make up this region of blessed beauty.

Mt. Everest Base Camp on trails that lead us through green terraced villages, rushing rivers, suspension bridges, lush forests with friendly chattering birds who seem to seriously welcome you into their domain, stay in refined 'teahouses' that are definitely not like the chai pasals found in the valley of Kathmandu; but the comforts are just fine for such remote outposts; and camp in fertile meadows that in some ways are even better than old McDonald’s farm back home, beneath towering peaks. There is liberal time to experience the friendly and exotic culture of the Khumbu Valley, where the local folks, despite their grubby attires & some with broken brown & yellow teeth, will give you welcoming smiles that could make your heart flutter...as we hum our favorite Elvis songs while hiking through some of the most spectacular natural settings and mountain landscapes in the world, while stopping over for the night to crash out in comfortable lodgings…what more could we ask for???

Everest Base Camp trek begins with an "eye opening" flight to Lukla at 2800 meters and & so begins our journey through the chocolate box Sherpa village of Namche Bazaar to Gorakshep culminating in the "ascent" of Kalapatter (5500m) from where typical views of Everest and its surrounding peaks are available. Most of the trek is above the tree-lines with altitudes of 3000 meters in the Khumbu and Imja valleys. Although this is a short trek, by Nepalese standards, there will be plenty of time to enjoy the rugged culture of the Sherpas, visit ancient monasteries and learn how the monk hood form of Buddhism influences Sherpa life. Stop at any of the numerous teahouses & warm yourself with a glass of sweetened tea or Chang (millet beer famous on the mountains of Nepal) and get a taste of warmth unique to the Sherpas. Beautiful, multi-hued prayer flags prayer wheels and intricately carved Mani stones line every hilltop, rock wall and trailside singing prayers to the gods as the wind blows with every passing traveler. For many a good of the daredevils who lost their lives on these mountains are simply remembered every day with the prayer flags whispering odes of prayers to the gods.

This is one of the most beautiful treks in the world with ancient paths winding past green terraced villages, with gushing streams crossed on swinging bridges and each moonlit night a comfortable 'teahouse' or a good tent pitched in a quiet pasture beneath towering mountains sure gives us a feeling of the wonderful world we live in. Throughout the trek we savor delicious meals prepared by our skillful cooks who know what stomachs like on these massive mountains. Our trek will be moderately paced to suit your body’s needs, allowing plenty of time for acclimatization, rest and peak sightseeing. Together we retrace the classic "Everest Approach March" made famous by Hillary and Tenzing Norgay Sherpa. The trek winds through some of the most spectacular mountain scenery on earth, where you can simply chill out in exotic, friendly Sherpa villages. Our trusty yaks and porters carry all of your baggage, so you don't have to carry a heavy rucksack.
